Bedding

My two sons have been sharing a bedroom since they were out of their cribs.  Now that they are 7 and 9, we have decided that they should have a space to call their own.  So, I have been researching, planning and working on designs for their new rooms.  In my search, I have come across the most beautiful bedding at very reasonable prices!  I thought I would share some of my finds with you.  If you are wanting to refresh any of your bedrooms, these are some great, affordable options!

This first on is the Organic Ironwork Duvet from West Elm.  Of course it has that teal blue color that I love so much!

The next one is also from West Elm.  It's the Organic Chevron Duvet and it's a serious contender for one my the boy's rooms. The bold, chevron pattern gets me every time!

This last on from West Elm is the Greek Key Duvet and it's on sale for less thatn $100!

I love the bright bamboo green of this duvet color.  It comes Overstocks.com - not a place where you might think to shop for bedding, but they have awesome prices!  You can get this 3 piece duvet set for only $54.99!  Now that is a bargain!

I love this pop of color for a girl's room!  It also comes from overstocks.com, and it's the Tommy Hilger Sommerville set.

Another zig zag duvet cover, this time from Urban Outfitters  - Zig Zag Duvet.  It comes in 2 colors is only $79!

I love this next duvet for a boho chick look!  It's the Bohemian Medallion duvet from Urban Outfitters.

Hmmm..my wishlist for things I want just got longer!  Have you seen gorgeous, affordable bedding anywhere?

Fall Decorating Ideas

So today I am going to share some fall decorating ideas with you, and hopefully show you something different and new.  I am definitely trying a few of these in my own home......

I adore feathers - in any form, including decorative balls!  How simple and chic is this?

Lights on branches?  Imagine the ambience that creates!  I feel warm and cozy just looking at this picture.

Everybody loves a letter on a front door!  I think this front entrance is adorable!

I am not usually a polka dot kind of girl, but I can't resist the planters above, the ribbon below and the pumpkin below that!  Okay, maybe I just like polka dots in the fall!?

How easy would this be to do?  No messy pumpkin-carving, just paint on the dots!  I love it!

You know that I love that teal color of the stools!  Just add in the orange from the leaves and white pumpkins and this is one of the most beautiful fall scenes that I have seen!

More feathers!  Just put a bunch in a vase and voila!  Instant centerpiece!

Here is another non-messy pumpkin idea!  Just add upholstery tacks!  This is one I am definitley trying!

This place setting has the freshness that I am looking for this year in fall decor - teal, brown and feathers!  Where oh where can I buy that stemware?

Last but not least, how cute is this wreath?  Two things I love and I think everyone should have in there decoration closet - burlap and moss!   I love how the orange pumpkins give a pop of color!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Fall Inspiration

It's hard to think about fall in the south when it is still so stinkin' hot!  However, changes are a comin'!  The highs tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to be in the 70's.  Yippee!  Now that bit of information is getting me into a fall state of mind.  So, this morning, I have been coming up with fall inspirations for my home and yours.  We all know that anyone can go get some pumpkins and scatter them around your house.  But I want something different, something fresh! This summer I couldn't get the color turquoise off of my mind and now that color is just getting darker and deeper -as in peacock or teal!  Mix teal in with orange and brown and you have a fresh fall color palette!  Here are some color inpirations:

Tomorrow, I will share fresh fall decorating ideas that you can bring into your home.....

This week's Best of Craigslist!

As many of you know, I love to peruse through the local craigslist and see what is out there for the taking!  There are so many deals out there that can make your home unique and beautiful!  Some require some TLC and some are just fine as is.  Without further adieu, here is the best of craigslist for this week:

Just imagine this antique sofa reupholstered in a creamy off white duck cloth - so chic!

I just love this heartpine tray!  It is so classic and absolutely nothing needs to be done to it.  A tray is great for putting on top of an ottoman when you need the ottoman to be used as a coffee table!

The next 2 items are only $50 for both!! What a steal!!  Again, they need some paint and new fabric, but at that price you can afford to reupholster!  I love the classic lines of these older items. Sofa and chair

This little floral bench can help brighten up a space!  It's only $30 and nothing needs to be done!

This wingback chair would look beautiful in a girl's room.  It comes straight from an interior designer's home for only $200.  I would bet the condition is immaculate!

The next chair is from Ethan Allen and is a beautiful salmon color.  It's a steal for only $300 (and you could probably talk them down lower!).

I think this Pottery Barn rug would go nicely with the Ethan Allen chair above!

Paint this round side table white, add it in with the rug and Ethan Allen chair and you've got yourself a nice reading nook!

Needing chairs for your dining room?  These gorgeous, classic dining chairs are only $300 for the set of 6.  You can't go wrong there!

And lastly, if you need bedside tables, here is a classic set that would be a great addition to any bedroom. Solid mahogany with dovetail joints, you know that's good quality!  The possibilities are endless - you can paint them, change the hardware, or leave them as is.

Disclaimer - I am not selling any of the above items.  They are simply listed on craigslist by owners that are unknown by me:)

White walls, or not!?

If you look at any interior design blog or shelter magazine these days, you will see picture after picture of white, creamy walls with pops of color throughout the room.  While I am not opposed to this look (I think it is very clean and fresh!), I do think it is getting overdone.  When I look at photos of rooms, I am still drawn to the coziness of darker walls.  I can just imagine myself curled up with a book, sipping wine and relaxing in any of these inviting rooms.  Here are some inspiration photos:

Old brass chandy.....

Happy Labor Day weekend! I hope you have some fun and relaxation built into your weekend.  If your like me, you'll be celebrating with some football (seriously, I'm just in it for social purposes, but my hubby loves some Gamecocks!)!  If you are looking to conquer a quick project around the house, I've got one for you.  Take a long look at that brass chandelier in your dining room.  Is it long overdue for a change?  Does it look similar to this?

Take that chandy down, spray on a coat of primer, then 2 or 3 coats of your favorite paint color and you have yourself a beautiful new chandelier!  Just look at the possibilities:

Have a great weekend!!
